Can anyone suggest how best to restore an old perfect-bound book? The cover/spine is in reasonable condition but the page glue has failed.

It is 172 x 248mm, 182pp, approximately 15mm. thick including cover and self-published in 1978. ("The Golden Years of Rushworth & Whroo" by Joyce Hammond.)

Reglue with PVA? Was it folded in signatures? Why not give it a proper binding?
